Hi,
I forget how I found PR, but I'm already a little addicted to the Review Gallery. Great to see patterns I own, but haven't sewn, posted in wildly different fabrics and looking good on wildly different people.

Cover Stitch Machine Question- I found only one 2011review; the rest are 2009 or earlier. Where on PR can I find more and current info to learn before I decide to buy?

I'm a grad of the School of Fashion Design in Boston, become a pattern maker and then a designer. I know about pattern making from industry slopers or draping to fit a model. When I had my daughter, I became a Waldorf teacher. For years I sewed my daughter and tons of school costumes. I'm itching to sew for myself again and to learning more about fitting my now 60-year-old body. Sigh.

Have enrolled in Sara Veblen's Bust Adjustment class and she is already great in her emails.

Welcome to PR, you're going to love the information and camaraderie offered here. I think you will also enjoy the opportunity to share your knowledge with others.

Wendy, the search function on PR is great. When you are in messages, it is toward the upper right of your screen under the tab bar. Search by machine names or by key words or phrases. Sometimes the thread names don't match up to all of the information contained in a thread, so do a search in the messages as well as the titles. And, of course, you can narrow your search by clicking on the 'Serger, Coverstitch' Forum in that pull down selection.

Best wishes, look forward to seeing you around the board.

On the cover stitch question. I bought my cover stitch machine last year and did extensive research on it. I think the older reviews are probably still relevant if the models are the same and many of them are. Seems like companies are always coming out with a new and "improved" sewing machine and don't focus as much on cover stitch machines. I ended up purchasing the Brothers 2340cv from Amazon so I did post a review there. I'll try to post a review on this site sometime this week.

If you have specific questions on the Brothers 2340cv I can try to answer them. Posting on the board is a good start.

Hi,
This is really helpful- thanks! With your lead and experimenting I'm finding a lot more. There are so many options, I know I have plenty of exploring to do.
Best,

Hi and thanks for your support. I would appreciate seeing your review here. 18 years ago, I bought my Elna serger from a terrific local dealer. Looked like they went out of business, but thank goodness have relocated. They are a knowledgeable multi-generation business and sell the Babylocks. Plus, my serger has not had a professional cleaning since date of purchase.

This is a very nice community!
Best,

wendyrb,
I just did a search in the sewing machine & serger reviews for just the word "cover" and got a lot more results. 5 reviews in 2011 on Janomes, Babylock and Pfaff coverstitch machines.
