Bowling Shoe Covers Pattern shoe covers, need a pattern

They are sort of like the disposable shoe covers that drs wear, or contractors wear when they walk through a house-so not to dirty the rugs,etc. I can figure out how to make them with a seam along the bottom, to the toe, and then elastic around the ankle but I don't like the idea of walking on the seam...thanks, Judy
justgail Intermediate IA USA Member since 1/19/06 Posts: 518	Login to reply to this post Like this post Date: 1/24/12 1:23 PM Oh, I hadn't seen those used for bowling, just at the Parade of Homes (house tours) back when I went to some of those for house ideas/inspiration/dreams and dare I say laughs on some things. I'd take your pattern with the seam on the bottom, and tape it together seam lines matching. Then cut around the toe just until it opens flat. Leave the center-top toe seam as is. If the heel is very high, you'd probably need to do the same there. You should end up with sort of a vaguely butterfly shaped piece - similar to the one on Kathleen's site - http://www.fashion-incubator.com/archive/pattern-puzzle-vintage-ww1-pattern/ Then sew the center seams, followed by the new seam around the toe and heel. You could probably add an extra layer of fabric for extra durability if needed.
