what can i do with 2 bundles of knitted fabric

I've recently come across 2 seperate pieces of lovely ivory colored knitted fabric. Not knit as in basic stretch for t-shirts but actual knit as in sweater material. there's about 2 yards of each, one a tighter gauge than the other. my serger handbook says i can use sweater knits for regular patterns if i stabilize the pieces by using a zig zag stitch to stop the cut fabric pieces from unraveling before being serged or sewn. I figure i can draft a basic "tube skirt" pattern and it'd be cute with tights but i'm fairly new to sewing and don't want to ruin my find with a made up pattern. any suggestions for patterns that may work with sweater knits? i'd prefer a nice sweater dress or easy pull on skirt that works with 2 yards or less. (i'm typically a 10 in patterns). thanks for any suggestions-Jen

I just came across a couple of pieces also. I intend to make a sweater dress for my granddaughter using a sweatshirt pattern with raglan sleeves and lengthening it. I have read that it is best to use as few seams as possible. I came across this in my search. I hope it is helpful.
