Date: 1/26/12 7:00 AM What do you stylish sewists think of Pantone's colour trends announcement? Personally I'm pretty fond of Tangerine Tango!
With this summer's colour trend chart in mind, I remembered an old UFO I started in winter 2009/2010, wadded due to major fit issues. Yeah, that long ago... It's now on Martha, having those issues corrected!

So how bout you ladies and gents? Anything from the runways you're using for inspiration? ------ BLOG: binarycatfish.blogspot.com

Date: 1/26/12 8:25 AM I'm loving the colors as well! I've been on a tangerine kick since fall making a skirt and a cardigan. I bought some tropical wool in a tangerine color as well. Fabricmart called it "Cantaloupe" but it's pretty close.
I bought some bright yellow knit too which is not normally a color I wear but I'm going to give it a shot with a summer tan.
I love the color blocking going on too. I loved that back in the 80's though and wore the heck out of it.
These bright colors make me happy! ------ http://kimsewsilly.blogspot.com/ |

Date: 1/26/12 8:38 AM Love the Tangerine and the Margarita. I'm looking to make some easy, breezy dresses for "everyday" wear. I'll probably add a few new capris and soft knit blouses, to replace the old thread bare stuff. |

Date: 1/26/12 10:05 AM The trends this year is floral, pastels, couture sports wear, African inspired, Great Gatsby does Disco iirc from the runways, and I am paraphrasing from what I saw, in addition to the colors.
Can't say I am going to do much of it. None of the colors, or styles, suit me overmuch. ------ Elaina

Date: 1/26/12 10:57 AM It depends on where you look for the "list" of trends. Neiman Marcus is saying it's Pink, Yellow, Fancy Pants, Dramatic Earrings, The Clutch, Silver shoes, Prints (bold florals it looks like), Tribal, and Sports Influence.
I've seen peplums mentioned and bird prints...really, bird prints???
I am loving the Fancy Pants trend as well. I will be making a pair for sure! ------ http://kimsewsilly.blogspot.com/ |

Date: 1/26/12 3:25 PM LOL, 'fancy pants!' Hadn't seen that one, although I've been tempted to make white satin trousers for awhile. Pants kind of scare me, though, and the idea of doing pants in a scary fabric is worse!
The bright colours (alone or colour-blocked) and tropical pastels have me swooning! And of course, I'm a fan of anything shiny, so I'm firmly in the Givenchy camp for spring I'm glad the neo-tribal thing is moving in a more stylish direction than previously.
Sewing ideas now that I've thought about it a bit:
-a bright yellow twill skirt
-a skirt inspired by this one in sea foam or robin's egg
Hmm, this is hard, I find so many good things at second hand shops... ------ BLOG: binarycatfish.blogspot.com

Date: 1/26/12 4:40 PM I love tribal prints mixed with neutrals. The Burberry Spring 2012 is my inspiration. Gorgeous neutrals and prints- long skirts (though I'm more a pant person) and neat spring parkas. |

Date: 1/29/12 7:52 PM I'm actually really loving the bird prints, though I don't know if I'd wear a bird print.
I'm trying to add more color to my sewing choices and my wardrobe in general so I'm definitely going to try a lot of it. At least at the muslin stage. |

Date: 1/29/12 9:39 PM I like them too. It just strikes me as so "specific" of a trend. ------ http://kimsewsilly.blogspot.com/ |
