I bought this pretty plaid in my mother's favourite football team colours. As it is made of two loosely woven cotton voiles, it will shrink a fair bit so I will need to wash a dry it a couple of times in advance. As the two layers are not sewn together am I concerned that they will come apart in the wash as they shrink. Could anyone give me some advice on how to proceed?

You might serge or zigzag the edges so they'll stay together. I usually do that (sewing the cut edges together) before washing with fabric that ravels a lot.

Your response is so logical that I feel sort of silly for asking in the first place!
It worked great.
