Date: 1/29/12 1:23 AM Yep, just saw my first Featherweight in person yesterday, Friday. Lady at work was headed out the door, carrying this small black box case, which looked familiar from photos I've seen here. I asked her if that was a Featherweight, and she replied in the affirmative. She was kind enough to take a few moments to show it to me, out of the case.
Now, because I've never seen one in person before, only seen the photos, I did NOT realize just how small that little cutie really is. Why, it's TINY!! And of course, ubercute. So now I am thinking I want one, just one please, to have around for those "small" sewing tasks that pop up all the time. It would save me pulling out the cast iron monsters for little repair jobs, right? So it's useful, and not just a collecting madness, right?

I rarely use my Featherweight because my 201K is always right there on the table. Decided tonight that I will look into setting up the Featherweight as a dedicated buttonholer machine. At least then it might get some proper use  |

To add; It just dawned on me my FIL who also sewed parachutes during the Korean War likes his FW allot!! Coincidence ??? Parachute workers using sturdy big machines... parachute workers using sturdy little FW at home... hmmmm???

Sure its supercute.. sure its useful.. and also quite sure its collecting madness Al.. since you asked.. But then .. I have always taken the position that there is nothing wrong with SMAD. |

If you have room and money especially for vintage machines - Featherweights included, you can always say you're rescuing them.  ------
