So I was just looking at sewing machines on ebay as I often do and saw this in the description for Bernina 930 that is currently listed:

"It has no power cord and no pedal. I got this from someone who did an estate clean out. He had already scrapped the cord and pedal cord for the copper in the wire and was about to scrap this for its light iron value."

AAAAHHHH!!!! I think I'm hyperventilating. I shudder to think what could have happened. Uh, duh, perhaps Google it and find out how much it's worth before you start dismantling it.

Okay, I think I've calmed down now. Sheesh....

Argh! So many folks are looking for a power cord for their machines.

This sounds like the old "pedal and power cord missing" excuse which some sellers use to explain why they don't "know" whether the machine works.

Righhhht....seems like a seller with common sense would have tried to confirm whether a higher end used machine was working before selling it ... since it would be worth much more in good working order.

I for one don't believe this type of story, and wouldn't touch a machine on ebay without pedal and power cord.

Oh my gosh skae, LOL, you have devil horns in your message and a bible quote in your signature line (just struck me as really, really funny).

I bought a 931 without a power cord for $125. I knew it was a risk, but they had the old one smashed to pieces. The wife thought the husband had forced the pedal into the cover kneeling on it to close it resulting in the breakage. I was sceptical, but I also couldn't resist the machine. I was able to buy a new pedal for $150 (yes it cost more than the machine) and the 931 sews like a charm. It was worth the risk. That being said, its a gamble so first you have to find out if the pedal is available and returnable, and second, you have to spend a small enough amount on the machine to be able to smile and shrug off the loss.

Or maybe someone plugged it in first, and it did not run, or something else not working. To say it has never been run and never sewn on because had a cord scrapped the cord without even trying it first (and maybe not willing to turn the fly wheel even by hand or does not know how to sew maybe) sounds odd to me and also probably gets you off the hook for claiming the machine runs, sews at all or runs well possibly.

I actually wasn't planning on bidding on it. It was just something I saw as I was surfing ebay and wanted to share with all of you.
