This is a demonstration of the Baby Lock Grace sewing machine. Advance the video to 1:35.

BL Grace demonstration

At 1:35 the demonstrator uses a gadget that allows sewing in a circle. Now that I do have a Baby Lock (BL 1550) I may just see if that accessory that allows one to sew in circles fits on my Baby Lock.

However! My question is, if that accessory does NOT fit on my model Baby Lock, how would I go about accomplishing sewing in circles, as the video demonstrates? I don't want to have to fight against the feed dogs. Or would it not really be a "fight," but more of a "guide the fabric" technique?

Ideas? Suggestions?

It's just a stick with a pin stuck on the end-- you may find that a thumbtack and popsicle stick (taped down to the bed) works just as well.

According to Babylock Accessory Brochure the circular sewing attachment will not fit your machine. Cool looking little gadget tho!

I think I may just try that! I was looking at the video again and I noticed that it appears to cover the feed dogs. I have something to cover my feed dogs so I will probably try it. I'll report back with results.

ETA:
The feed dogs are not covered. Nancy Zieman demonstrates the Baby Lock circular attachment.

I just checked, and it the Babylock reference given above said that the circular sewing attachment (BL-CSA) can be used on model G machines (which include the Sophia and Sophia2). My question - does this mean that it will also work on my Brother Innovis 900D (which is the equivalent of the Sophia model)? Can someone point me to a site where I can verify this?
Also - can anyone tell me what size circles can be sewn with this attachment? (A range of sizes, I mean). I make steering wheel covers, and any help with sewing circles would be fantastic!!
