Wondering if I should purchase the Bernina Foot #35? Last night I sewed in an invisible zipper using a generic foot similar to the #35 but clear plastic. It seemed that there wasn't enough pressure on the groove of the foot to keep the coil flat for closer stitching. Am I doing something wrong or is it the foot? I did press the zipper coils flat before sewing. Maybe I shouldn't have. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have the #35 invisible zipper foot and would not use anything else. It is well worth the price. You don't have to iron the coil and get you perfect results. No need to move the needle position either. Still, I usually iron close to the coil so it pushes it up, not flat. I've done it this way for years. Old habits are hard to break. :)

I bought one and recently used it for the first time. My invisible zipper was flawless AND YOU DO NOT HAVE TO IRON THE COILS. I would highly recommend it. Take a look at the video on the Bernina site:

Even with the invisible zipper foot, it took some practice. One time I sewed through all the coils- took a lot to pick the thread out, hours...

But once I got the hang of it- I love it.

So maybe you need the good foot, or maybe you need practice...

The Bernina invisible foot is well worth the money. I also never iron my zipper and it comes out perfect each and every time.

The Bernina zipper foot is amazing. I highly recommend it. The only issue I ever have with my invisible zippers is sewing the fabric so that the right sides both face out - i.e., twisting the zipper. I use this tutorial to help me remember: http://www.coletterie.com/tutorials-tips-tricks/tutorial-installing-an-invisible-zipper

They're using a Bernina invisible zipper foot in the tutorial! They say to iron the zipper, but I never have. It's really not necessary with the #35 foot.

Thank you Sewbusy. I did iron it and although it turned out fine, it could be much better. I contacted the Bernina Store and ordered a #35 foot.

GreenMtn: The video sold me on getting the foot. The generic foot I bought is exactly like it and even bought it from a Bernina dealer, but it does not seem to have enough pressure on the foot.

I can't wait to get my foot. Thank you for your help.

Skittl1321 - Yup I am sure I need practice and it is so hard to see the coils, I could see sewing through them easily.

Ordered the foot this evening! Thank you!

Thanks Wendy J. I didn't even ask the price when I ordered the foot tonight. I love the look of invisible zippers and they are really easy to do. Never ironing the zipper was the deal maker!
