Date: 2/4/12 3:56 PM I tried making slipcovers once: they just don't come out like when the pros do it.
Anyway, I caught an incredible sale at uglysofa.com, $29.99 for slipcovers sold by an unnamed home decor chain (which you can figure out by reading the review here
I'm not sure I could even buy the FABRIC for $29.99.
So I'll have a whole bunch of sage green twill vaguely shaped like my sofa and with pig-tail pins and the broomstick trick (see video at link above), I'm hoping It will look decent.
Oh, by the way about $15 for the ship. STill better than anything I sw on Amazon.

Date: 2/4/12 4:53 PM Have you received these already? We have some couches that I want to cover too, was thinking of doing it myself but this would save me a ton of work. Our set is leather and pretty much brand new (delivered in December). I'm trying to keep them protected from sunlight and all the wacky stuff our animals leave behind. This looks to be a promising solution. ------ I'm finally a blogger!

Date: 2/4/12 5:04 PM Ming! Where ya been, girl?
I just ordered it today so I don't have it yet but...
Click HERE. Look at BOTH her vids: how to put the cover on and how get the wrinkles out. I went and bought exactly the same cover she shows: luckily, this sale is on at least until the weekend. $29.99! I don't think I could buy all that twill for that price!
Also, in the video, she demonstrates the "Broomstick trick" for keeping slipcovers in place. I'm also going to put one in the front, under the pillows.
- This has got to be better than having the foam sticking out like it is now
- She demonstrates what it will look like in a video
- The price is great! It's a PB slipcover worth about $120!
I don't think I can lose on this thing!

Ming.. you know my love of slipcovers with all the dogs I have.. but to cover leather.. it may be a bit more difficult.. the cover would slide around a bit too much unless it was of rug weight.. IMHO
Which made me wonder.. just what fabric that uglysofa slipcover is being made from.. I hope the OP lets us know.. My guess is a poly.. or a poly blend.
In any case.. just get you some large throws to use.. That will help protect your couch.. and look good too.. and washable.. Why buy a fabulous looking couch and cover it up entirely where you can't enjoy the look of it.
Now.. there are slipcovers.. and there are slopcovers.. the first.. the slipcover.. is constucted to be a tight , fitting cover which takes time to do .. whereas a slopcover is a looser fit .. not fitted to any particular couch.. which is what the OP has purchased.. easier to make.. but not easier to put on as you saw in the video.. also you can sure tell its a slipcover/slopcover. With a fitted slipcover you can't hardly tell its on.. looks more like an upholstery job. However because of the loose constuction a slopcover is much easier to make.. Hope that helps you decide what to do.. I vote for a large throw myself .. heavy. As with a leather couch there is no fabric to grab the slipcover and help hold it in place. I think that might cause you so much work trying to keep it looking good and in place. |

Thanks for posting this! I'd never heard of UglySofa, but our couch and chair desperately need a makeover. The coupon didn't work, but I can't really complain. Our couch is about 7' long and the chair is oversized--with shipping the total was under $80.

Date: 2/5/12 2:21 PM Juliette, I'm getting all sorts of ideas for getting these to fit nicely: I could sew wide elastic around the back or anchor them with those ironing board "grabbers". I'm getting excited. I can't wait to get this so I can start to work with it and make some nice pillows!
I don't see how we could beat the price! PB!
