Date: 2/5/12 4:51 PM Have you read the book, seen the US movie version? I have done both. I was skeptical that the movie could adequately show the whole story of the book, given that it's over 600 pages long, but it did a brilliant job of it. Not a slow moment in the whole thing.
I saw this article yesterday about how Lisbeth Salander's wardrobe (along with some other action heroines) inspired recent couture collections. Check out these photos - they were shocking to me.

Date: 2/5/12 5:59 PM I've read the book but haven't (won't) see the movie. I have a pretty vivid imagination (and have seen some people in very unfortunate circumstances) and would not want to see a screen depiction of Salander, nor would I ever expect it to meet my expectations after reading the book.
The photos in the link were interesting. Perhaps the tie in is simply an excuse to display some more exotic ideas. Somehow they bring the Occupy Wall Street movement to my mind more than Lisbeth Salander and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. You know, a tiny percentage of reality surrounded by a larger percentage masquerading as reality.
Won't choose one or the other. In thinking on it, though, both women, Kate Middleton and Lisbeth Salander (from my perception of reading the book) simply dress for their roles and as a matter of survival.
Kate Middleton strikes me, through the media, as a dear young woman, well educated, thoughtful and intelligent. But, poor girl, she must surely be burdened with the appropriateness of her appearance most every day. I very much respect that she is respectful of the position she has been put in and the people who now look to her; and, at her. ------ I have no idea what Apple thought I was saying so be a Peach and credit anything bizarre to auto correct. |
