Date: 2/7/12 1:28 PM I love the top kwik sew 3694 in the cap sleeves. I'd like to put a knit cardigan or jacket over it. It seems like all the knit jackets or cardigans are so oversized, very drapey with big lapels which would just overwhelm me. Since the top is fitted and fairly long, I'd like the cardigan to hit at the waist. Can anyone suggest a pattern for us vertically challenged women? I guess it doesn't necessarily have to be out of knit. -- Edited on 2/7/12 3:09 PM -- |

Date: 2/8/12 6:54 AM What about this classic Jalie 3/4 Length Jacket. The envelope says it's for stretch wovens, but you could probably make the jacket out of virtually any fabric including an RPL Sophia Knit. The jacket has princess seams that you can adjust to get the fit you like. If you sew the top first, you could try it on and shorten the jacket to the length that you think looks best with the top. ------ The essence of life is statistical improbability on a colossal scale.

Date: 2/8/12 9:41 AM I think some of the Loes Hinse designs could be very flattering, interesting shaping, very narrow lapels. This Ascot jacket appeals to me, but I haven't tried making it yet ------ Viking Lily 545

Date: 2/8/12 11:58 AM I've never used any of Loes Hinse's patterns and completely forgot to look there. I love, love, love the Ascot! It even says you can make it out of a double knit. That's what I had in mind...something with some shaping. Thanks you! |
