Coat Pattern Modifications Modify straight coat to swing style

Is there soething written out there that I should read first? At this point I'm ging to modify the pattern the way I think it has to be, then make a muslin test garment. But This seems like a huge pattern change. I'm not overly optimistic! Thanks very much. Bernadette

It's pretty easy to change the pockets, the closure, the seaming, even a single breasted to double breasted. One-piece sleeve to two-piece, no problem. Necklines, armscyes, and shapes are hard.

Given that they have such great pattern sales why not just give one of those a go?
