Date: 2/11/12 8:10 PM I'm seeing great linen t-shirts and superfine sweaters coming in for summer, like this> http://www.poetryfashion.com/product-U913-POASUST/summer-stripes/striped-linen-cardigan.htm
Has anyone seen a source for this online? |

Date: 2/12/12 1:07 AM Linen jersey is hard to find (if I ever find a repurposeable garment in the thrift store I snap it up). Hopefully someone will chime in with a current online source. Back in the day Textile Studio (RIP) carried it sometimes. It's the kind of thing I imagine Emma One Sock might have occasionally.
I was at a local store - Hart's Fabric in Santa Cruz, CA - recently and they had some in the showroom. I know they do online sales and have a website so you might check there. ------ I've moved! Visit my new sewing blog at http://chiralcraft.wordpress.com

Date: 2/12/12 1:40 AM Last year I saw it carried by Fabric Mart, Harts and Piedmont Fabrics. I'm pretty sure that the latter two got it from FM, which also does wholesale. It became horribly skewed offgrain if washed/dried in the machine. I have loads of it in several colorways and haven't decided what to do with it.
I also saw some in Michaels/A Fabric Place last April (in Baltimore). I bought a piece in a light yellow color and this one contained just a tiny bit of metallic, so it had a different texture than the other pieces I have. It is a very nice quality.
I haven't seen it yet this year, but you could call around. ------ http://communingwithfabric.blogspot.com/ |

Date: 2/12/12 1:40 AM Mood Fabrics has some here.. I ordered some of the grey and it is really nice. I saw some on another site but can't remember which one. It was $40.00 a yard though, a bit pricey for me. I also got some last year at Fabricana in Richmond (seeing that you are also from BC) but I haven't seen it there so far this year.

Date: 2/12/12 2:21 AM Thanks Seaspur, and everyone. The stuff at Mood looks nice, although not as fine as I was hoping for. I may have to wait a month or so, and make the trek to the mainland. I've never been to Fabricana. A treasure hunt for linen knit is as good a reason as any! |

Date: 2/12/12 2:45 AM Mood Fabrics is the only place I have found linen knits in any quantity, but last year I bought several of them, and they are EXACTLY what you are looking for. However, the thing is that Mood has more than they show on the website, and the textures and quality vary so much that you really have to go there and fondle them in person.

Date: 2/12/12 10:16 AM Ginny's Fine Fabrics & Support Group in Rochester, MN had some in the fall -- not sure if she still has any. I did pick up a piece in a teal colour when I was there in November but haven't sewn it up yet. It's a great fabric and the colours are gorgeous -- I think she had 6 or 7 colours when I was there.

Date: 2/22/12 1:29 AM Mittens, I couldn't find any on Marcy's site. If you still see them, could you please send a link?
Update - I engineered a work meeting in Vancouver on a Friday expressly so I could take the skytrain out to Fabricana in Richmond. I can't believe how much nice stuff they have - lots of higher quality, natural fibres and stylish colours. I went a little nuts. But the only linen knits so far were the infamously sheddy red (which I bought some of anyway) and a few other related winter colours.
Guess I'll have to go back! |
