I'm looking for a new machine and this one seems to have a lot of features I'd like, but for less money than a higher end machine. I was considering a Janome 6600, Horizon 7700, or a Bernina 550, but I've decided to try and keep it under $1,000. I currently work full time and have a 4 y/o and a 2 y/o, so I'm going to wait to invest in a higher end machine until I have more time to dedicate to sewing.

Anyway, I can't find as much information about this machine as the other machines I mentioned. Does anyone have this machine? What are your likes and dislikes? And does anyone know the how large the space is to the right of the needle?

Great feature in this line of Janomes is the two digit stitch selection! I love that. I don't have this machine, but I have the Janome 8050 which is exactly like the Janome 1050, and the display is the same as in the machine you ask about. See if you can get a demo. Also these machines are LIGHT! Stable but light, which is a really handy feature when rearranging machines or taking classes! :)

I've had this machine for about 2 weeks and am really enjoying it. I have been away from sewing for quite a few years and find this machine very easy to use. I really like the ease of stitch selection with the touchpad. I think it has a lot of nice features for the price. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

I too am considering buying this machine from a private party online. Has anyone used this for any extended period of time? How much is a reasonable amount to pay for such a machine?
Sorry for all the questions, I really love all of this machines features but after reading its baby sisters reviews (3160qdc I am scared)

I bought a Janome 4120qdc about a year ago, and I have loved it! It is my first computerized machine, so it took a little getting used to--does more of the work for me ;-). One of the things I love the most about this machine is the gorgeous buttonholes it makes. It's a one-step buttonholer with the slot for the button in the back of the attachment--perfect every time. There are 3 buttonhole styles--all really pretty. Really the only thing that still bugs me is the way that the machine seems to always take one more stitch after you've let off the pedal--a bit annoying, but I've gotten used to it over time. As far as the price, I bought mine here in Belgium, in Euros, so it cost a good bit more compared to dollars, but so worth it. Good luck!
