Last year I began sewing some quilts for the charity, Quilts for Kids. Soon after I started, they posted a message on their website asking for quilts for older boys. Apparently, most of the quilts they get are either too girly or too childish, with nothing for boys over 10.

Here's my latest. I decided to make a large, bold, one-block quilt. I started to make a Mariner's Star, but came up with this idea instead. The background photographed almost black, it's really a navy/midnight blue. It's inspired by equal parts of the Flash, Captain Marvel, and Harry Potter.

It went together really quickly, since it is mostly solid squares with some half square triangles and a few corner triangles.

Great quilt! I also plan to make some for that same organization. Last night I was sorting through fabrics deciding what to put with what, and found I did have some things appropriate for boys. They still need quilts for boys.

Nice work! My sons love quilts, and my older son, whose favorite color is pink and who loves cute animals, is just figuring out that he'd better disguise that. They'd both love this cool design.
