Is there such thing as a comfortable women's pumps? Women's high heel shoes

Is there such a thing as a comfortable pair where I don't break my neck walking in them?

Date: 2/22/12 12:22 PM You really just have to try them on. And it varies from one designer to the next. Some shoes have padded insoles and you could actually purchase inserts for added comfort. Believe it or not, platforms are typically pretty comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that. The best thing to do is just try on a pair and walk around in them. But here's the thing....in most shoe departments, you're on carpetting. You really want to walk on a hard surface to get a good gauge of comfort. I PROMISE you it makes a difference.

It depends on how much you want to spend Cole Haan is now owned by Nike and they have a very comfortable line of pumps with the Nike Air technology in the sole. If you really shop you can find pretty good sale prices. I also like Kennth Cole, they have the 925 line which is very comfortable as well. Personally I like shoes with a little bit of a platform (1/4 - 1/2 inch can make a difference) so you don't feel like you are walking directly on the concrete. Shoes that are well designed and balanced will spread you weight evenly between toe and heel so you aren't walking around on your tippy toes all the time. Ferragamo and Kate Spade are really good at designing well balanced shoes, of course. If you find a great pair of shoes that is well designed and well made (all leather) it is worth paying a little extra. I absolutely love these. I don't know where they measured the 2" on the heel, but it's definitely closer to 3".

I agree you need to try something with a bit of a platform but also look at the heel width, not just the height. I have found that something that has abit more width to the heel is easier to wear and walk in than a pencil heel. The other thing is to find the heel height that's right for you. I found 3" to be a bit uncomfortable (for day to day wear) but 2.5" is fine. Debbie

If it was 20 years ago and I still worked at the bank I'd snatch them up. Unfortunately they don't fit with my current jeans/knit top type wardrobe. Now if it was an ankle boot with that heel and toe I'd go for it! Debbie

Fashionable shoes that are comfortable, come in wide fittings, and are practical to walk in. They also have many styles suitable for wearing with orthotics. I discovered this brand when I moved to New Zealand in 2007 -- they are designed here -- and have worn almost nothing else ever since. Here's the link to their high heeled black shoes.
