Threads Insider Email this morning about a new on-line product

Now I am confused because haven't they been promoting their DVDs with all issues? What is this do you think--have they left those of us who made this purchase in the dust? A way to get income for stuff they have previously offered on their website? What do you think?

I suspect it'll be a subscription service of some sort. I don't know the Threads magazine site well enough, can you current get the currently released issue digitally online? You'll probably be charged by the month or the year. I still dig out particular issues and go over a particular technique. Just this week, I dug out issue 72, page 54 on how to do a yoke on a blouse! I don't think it would have been quite so easy online. Frankly, having tried it: I get clearer and more in-depth know how from Pattern Review than I could find anywhere on their web site and don't feel that I want to pay extra to Threads/Taunton.

Date: 3/21/12 3:02 PM Taunton Press (publisher of Threads) has a similar type of service for Fine Home Building magazine with some free content and some fee-only content. There's little money in providing free high quality content online and, like it or not, they're a business. I'm not sure about their other publications (Fine Gardening, Something (Fine?) Cooking) because I don't use those websites. As a book publisher they have very high standards for their images and text and that usually carries over into the magazines as well. That's not a cheap approach as shows in their subscription and single issue prices for the magazines. -- Edited on 3/21/12 3:04 PM --

The two I watched with Louise Cutting were worth the subscription price. Then there was the couture workshop video with Claire Shaeffer. There are also some good fitting video's. The learn to sew video's would be great for beginners. All that for $12.95 (I am a Threads subscriber) even if I had to pay full price I think it would be worth just to watch the Louise Cutting and Claire Shaeffer video's. ------ Ada
