I am going to Berlin soon and would love to know if there are any quality fabric shops I should visit there. My friend always directs me to Ka De We, but as a non-sewer has no idea if there are any other places to build up my excess baggage!

I am not from Berlin and know only 2 shops (where I ususally shop plenty though):

Hüco and Gebrüder Berger. They are both mentioned and still exist in this thread from 2009 on the German sewing blog 'Hobbyschneiderin':
fabric shops in Berlin

The thread is 5 pages long, and somewhere further down, some additional addresses are mentioned (e.g. Tessuti Stoffe) which are also worthwhile exploring.

Two newer shops are here: Berlins Welt der Stoffe and Stoffe Meyer

If you have difficulties in reading the websites, don't hesitate to PM me.

A word of caution: fabric is relatively expensive compared to the States, and the variety (ie when it comes to knits and jerseys) is not as broad as you may be used to.

Berlin is a fascinating city, enjoy your trip!

I've not bought a lot of fabric in Berlin, but visited a shop that I liked a lot : Babie Lato (Schönhauser Allee, says Google) and bought two pieces there. It was full of organic cottons and linens, with a few woolen (it was in July, so not much winter fabrics). Plus very pretty notions, buttons and silk bias.
The salesperson didn't speak English, though, I had to brush up my rusty German !

I visited Tessuti, too, but it was way too pricey for me. Didn't look at the other stores.

The Turkish market has fabrics, plus there are some shops I the street where it is held. I think it is on Tues and Fri, from midday.

Thank you all so much, plenty of places to visit . I love to bring fabrics home with me when I travel to remind me of where I have been. Searching out the fabric shops in a strange city can be tricky so this information is really helpful.

If anyone is visiting the UK and would like similar advice I will do my best to reciprocate
