I just saw on the evening news that Davy Jones of the Monkees passed away today! Oh my! What a big surprise to me. I remember watching that show with a couple of my friends.... at the time they were "the" band in my world. Of course most of us girls Davy was "so cool"....

RIP Dear Davy.....

They were a hoot to watch.. and we girls all drooled over them a lot back then.

It sure made me feel old to hear of his passing.

I saw the recent photo and couldn't believe he had "grown up"!!! Oh yes, I remember The Monkees. And to think that they were just a "marketing campaign".. Oh, the lives they touched!!!

Hey Hey We're the Monkees!
People say we monkey around
We're too busy singing
To put anybody down....

This really made me feel very, very winsome. When he was a little kid, he was in Oliver on Broadway so a lot of people knew him in NY. My art director, Denise, was a kid, too, then and wanted to meet him at the stage door. It wound up they became little kid friends and used to visit each other's house, or her parents would include him for dinner sometimes when they went out to a restaurant.

I saw them during their "comeback" tour.. back in 1986 when I was a student at Temple University..They were our halftime show for the homecoming football game....and like countless others, I LOVED their TV Show...

RIP!! he was so young!
