Date: 3/2/12 9:59 AM I've never tried this was a large alteration, but it should work with changes up to an inch, mabye 1.5in.
Extend the shoulder seam on the front and back by the desired amount. Slash the pattern piece from a point about 2in. from the armscye on the shoulder seam to the stitching line opposite the sleeve notch. Spread the pattern piece by the desired amount.
Trim the same amount from the top of the sleeve cap. Redraw the sleeve cap with a smooth line between the top of the sleeve and the front and back notches.
If you want to do more than 1.5in, you probably want to start with a drop sleeve pattern to begin with. Any large change to a pattern requires the curves to all be readjusted to make sure everything still works. |
