This is a little table runner Ive been working on - a ufo. I had to buy a book on FMQ patterns - I am not creative with comming up with new patterns on my own.
I love mixing up lots of patterns for one project - like a zen tangle.

Date: 3/2/12 6:34 PM Has anyone else signed up for this 12-Month FMQ challenge? I missed January, but because Feb had 29 days this year, I got an entry in at the last minute on Wednesday. The Jan and Feb tutorial exercises are still accessible, but March's will disappear at the end of the month. I figured this would be a useful way to practice a few more designs than I would get to on my own, and there is something about a deadline that motivates me, even if it is at the absolute last minute.
February's guest contributor was Diane Gaudynski. Here is my adaptation of her feathers.

Date: 3/2/12 8:44 PM Scroll down the page on Green Fairy Quilts Blog to see the detail of the art quilt she completed and posted on that day. This is the kind of true free motion quilting I would love to perfect. Absolutely - with the 365 patterns Leah has come up with, and all for free to learn complete with video and blurbs about each - well, there's no excuse....for me. But I will never be good, but I will have fun. And no competitions or contests for me please....that just sucks the life out of it all....for me.
Portland - you have a great start on that quilt! Excellent start - you know that the main thing with learning is to start and not be shy, and I think you have that part aced!

Date: 3/2/12 10:45 PM I am never going to be good, either. I am willing to settle for mediocre, because, after all, in the land of the blind the one-eyed free motion quilter is queen - no one in my house will think less of me for my fmq! ------ Barb |

Date: 3/3/12 2:06 PM WHOA! That's some amazing FMQ! That's for posting that, Warbler. It's gorgeous, exactly the sort of thing I want to do, but realistically doubt I'll ever approach. ------ 🌸 Plenty of machines, mostly Berninas 🌸 |
