Date: 3/2/12 11:57 AM Some of you may remember the post on the boards a while back to help get the editing of the documentary film Men of the Cloth completed. I was one of the PatternReview members who participated, because I'm interested in the project, and I really am interested in seeing the final film. I mean, seriously, I can't be the only one who's fascinated by Geoffrey Rush's first scene in 'The Tailor of Panama', right?
Anyway, the final edit is being put together for film festivals, and the director is 'happy to preview the completed film for anyone who would be kind enough to organize a small fundraising event'. I personally would be willing to pay to see this film in a theater, and would be willing to pay maybe $25 to attend a preview screening to get it finished. If anyone else has any interest, I could try to find out if the director had something similar to $25/head for 20 people or so in mind when she said 'small'.
So, what do you think? Are there any other New Yorkers interested in seeing a preview screening for $25 apiece? I'm thinking we could meet at someone's place or maybe at a conference room. I'd love to host a group of 10 (at most) in moderate comfort at our Brooklyn home. For larger groups, or if anyone else has a better, more central location, I could help organize it.
So, let me know. You can PM me on PatternReview or respond to this thread if you are interested. If we get a modest group, I'll go the next step by emailing the author. Please give me some sort of idea how firm your commitment would be. I would find it embarrassing if it ended up being 3 people for $75 or something like that. |

Date: 3/3/12 12:30 PM On the website you can donate and recieve a DVD from the finished product. We are going to wait for our DVD to come and screen it at home. I may have some sewing friends over to screen it too. I didn't think of that. Thanks for the idea. |

Date: 3/4/12 5:52 AM Tom, I'm in Jackson Heights, and I'd love to screen this film. I'd need to know the date and time before I commit. Keep me in the loop? Thx!

If one of the filmmakers is a member of the Director's or Writers Guild: they could inquire at the Union about their nifty little screening rooms that they use.
