It was on It's Sew Easy series 200/show 209 and saves time when paper-piecing.

The quilt artist is George Siciliano. He custom cut the mat to fit around the needle plate, having the largest amount of the mat to the front and left of the plate.

The mat is taped to the machine (even has a little baggie for scraps).

He also has a two-piece ruler that swivels for alignment of the excess fabric and then trims with the rotary cutter.

No motions wasted and his mini quilts are gorgeous award winners.

I found a video of George

And here are pictures of his quilts.

I am getting the ruler he uses and digging out that UFO I gave up on several years ago!

W O W.

I am so impressed I don't even have words!

And his machine set up is SO COOL!

I like being able to sew very slowly also, I like to take my time.

I still can't quite get used to complete button controls vs foot controls though. It took me close to a year to stop turning the wheel to put the needle down when I stopped! I am a creature of habit

I found that ruler triple duty seam allowance guide

Kinda pricey. I'd like to hear whether it's really more useful than a postcard and a add a quarter ruler.

He does nice work but he comes across like a salesman

Ya well, I think Brother produced that video, so what should you expect?

His work is quite stunning, but I'll just admire it, and not bother trying to replicate it. Seeing him at work reminds me afresh why I don't like foundation piecing...

$12.00 if you buy from George.

This video is a little different that what I saw on It's Sew Easy. On the program, he went into a lot of detail about paper piecing and nothing was said about Brother.

George spoke at our quilt guild a few years ago and brought many of his tiny quilts to display. The quilts are stunning and he is an interesting speaker. In person, he's not a saleman at all. I'm sure the Brother endorsement came with strings attached!

This particular video is a Brother video, on their youtube channel that shows what their machines can do.

Of course he's talking about the features of his Brother machine in it.....that's the purpose of the video.

It also shows his cool setup.
