Date: 3/3/12 6:35 PM I'm not totally sure I want to make this into anything yet, but it leaped--er, flew!--into my cart today at Hancock's. I bought just over 1 yard, or three rows of birds.

See it nice and big here.
IRL, the colors are much brighter than they appear on my monitor here--the cockatoos are more of a silvery grey, and the yellow is bright canary YELLOW (the name of the color was "corn yellow."). There wasn't any fabric content info on the bolt, but I'm pretty confident it's either linen or a linen/cotton blend. It would work for either home dec or garments, but I'm not sure I actually *want* to wear it. LOL
My best idea at the moment is using it for a memo board, but I'd love to hear what other fun ideas people have for it!

Date: 3/3/12 8:23 PM *Sew magnets to the corners and use it as a cover for the front of your dishwasher
*Sew it in an irregular shape, such as and octagon, and use it on your table
*Glue it to a rollup shade in a room you want to liven up
*Make a sewing machine cover for your machine
*Fussy cut around the birds about 14" and make thin pillow cushions for your kitchen chairs (use muslin for the backs)
*Sew a thick towel to the back and use it for a drainer on your counter
*Make a cover for your mixer
*Use if for valances, incorporating the birds
*Cut into halves or fourths, and use it as tea towels or something to cover bread bowls
That's all my old dinosaur mind can think of right now...

Date: 3/3/12 9:45 PM I love the earlier idea for a bulletin board. I would put an off-white painted frame around the board.
Great fabric! |

Date: 3/4/12 1:08 AM Oh man, I would make it into a Vest in a heartbeat, but that is just me. And I think I am rather larger than you. LOL!!!
If you have room a memo board would be a nice idea, but my devilish little mind sees it in a trio with distressed window frames around them. Then use grosgrain ribbon to make the "inside framing". Then they don't all have to be in the same place. Won't take up a huge amount of space and/or will balance a room quite nicely. |

Date: 3/6/12 2:57 PM I think it would be really cute as a pencil skirt.
I was just on fabric.com this morning and saw that fabric - they list it as cotton slub duck and recommend not drying it. (link) |
