Date: 3/9/12 8:30 AM I got this small catalog from New York and Company. There was a beautiful dress labeled Cowl Back Dress . I want to make one like it, but I've searched their web site and it just isn't there. Must've sold out.
I really want to sew this dress. This is the first time I'm trying this, but how would I go about this? I don't necessarily care about the cowl back, I like how it looks in the front.
It is sleevless, and has gathering along the neckline and shoulders. Other than that, it's rather straight on down. The fabric is white with large, purple butterflies and flowers. It actually sounds horrible, but it's really pretty.
Has anyone seen a pattern like this? I have a few wedding to go to this year and it would be a great dress for this.
If you can help let me know. I may try to scan the picture in. ------ Janel |

Date: 3/10/12 6:09 PM They didn't have a picture of the back, so I don't know. That is also strange that they call it 'Cowl Back Dress' and then don't show the back. LOL
Modern retailing need help, I think.
I love how the front looks though, don't you? ------ Janel |

Date: 3/10/12 9:27 PM It looks likes a rectangle with gathered kimono sleeves. Maybe New Look 6936 matches for knits? Use View B's gathered sleeve top with the kimono sleeves and higher neckline of E. Maybe bell out the bottom of the sleeves to achieve a more dramatic result? Hope this helps!New Look 6936 ------ Learning Couture in Rio de Janeiro

Date: 3/11/12 3:53 PM The closest thing I have seen is this handsome Lekala pattern #5846.
This is what the pattern pieces look like.
Melissa has kindly made up a tutorial for how to order these patterns. |
