Date: 3/13/12 11:59 AM I ordered some a year ago for cushions for our screened porch. They've held up well.
One of the fabrics I selected was the Richloom Solarium and the only negative I can say about it was that it raveled very easily. I think I ended up serging all the cut edges before construction.
I still need to take them all off the cushions and wash them again for spring. I'll let you know if I have any issues when I do. -- Edited on 3/13/12 12:00 PM -- ------ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Date: 3/13/12 12:21 PM There's is the normal weight outdoor fabric, the type that retails for about $20.00 a yard at Joanns. It will work nicely for cushions. A couple of years ago I made many outdoor cushions for my sister, that had yards and yards of cording. I didn't want to use traditional cording since it's cotton and would hold moisture. I ended up using polyester rope from Home Depot. it comes in narrow widths and sells for about $4.00 a bag of 100 ft. ------ My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since. |

The top canopy got damaged in a storm & needs replacing. I thought I might as well recover the cushions too. This sits in direct sun all day, so I want something that will really wear well. On the Fabric.com site, The Richloom Solarium looks to be the best for use for direct sun.
Diane, thanks for that info.------ Beverly

Date: 3/14/12 4:45 PM I'm going to use my existing top & cushions as patterns. And I'm going to order "outdoor fabric" from fabric.com. Just need to decide which one. ------ Beverly
