Should I line the sleeves?

I bought this pattern because it is unlined. After I got it home, I reread the description and learned the sleeves should be lined. The chosen fabric is a khaki linen/rayon blend with a sort of thin stripe (same color) woven in. This jacket (view A) will be worn by my daughter casually over short-sleeved tops in an office where the temperature is unpredictable. She will likely be pushing the sleeves up.

I really don't want to line the sleeves. What pros and cons do you all see? M5668

I believe the main reason to line the sleeves on an unlined jacket is for ease when slipping it on over another blouse or shirt.

I like unlined jackets for indoor warmth. As long as the sleeves are not too tight, they will be fine.

It might be worth checking your daughter's bicep measurement so you can make allowances if necessary.

Kathy, thanks for clarifying the purpose of lining the sleeves...I didn't know! Clareew, measuring her bicep (along with other measurements) is worth remembering. Thank you!

I like this pattern and have made it both with and without lined sleeves. Both ways were fine.

For ease of getting the jacket on over blouses, the lining is great. If she plans to wear it with the sleeves pushed up, test to be sure the lining does not remove the "grabbyness" that keeps the sleeves up.

You can add the sleeve lining later if she prefers it.

Good to know!

I'm not going to line them, first go-round. I'll let everyone know how it turns out. Excited to be sewing for her!
