Date: 3/15/12 6:11 PM I just noticed my local Walmart started stocking fabric again. I was shocked but happy. Maybe me writing to Walmart complaining did the trick! Yea right! |

Date: 3/15/12 6:14 PM There are several Walmarts in the Cincinnati area now that has fabric. They are small sections but at least it is a start! I feel everytime that I am in one that has a fabric section that I should buy something from that are just to help the case. If this is the result of your complaint, then THANK YOU! |

Date: 3/15/12 6:21 PM I wonder how many others have fabric? I go through Columbus to go back to my hometown and next time I think I'll stop in and see if they have any fabric. I'm so tired of having to rely on what Joann's has. I like to be able to touch the fabric so I don't order fabric off the internet too often so I have to rely on Joann's all the time and some of their fabric is not good quality. |

The Department is not as big as it once was but I am just glad that it is back! Hopefully it will continue to expand to what it once was. |

Date: 3/15/12 6:44 PM It's been slowly coming back in to certain Wal-marts. After about 5 years, I think they finally figured out that they shot themselves in the foot, when they took the fabric out. Those of us who went in multiple times a week to see what was "new", would come out with a cart load of other stuff as well.
Many of us from all over the country, pelted Headquarters with e-mails, phone calls and petitions, when they started removing the fabrics.
I was told by an Assistant Manager in one of my Wal-marts, that two ladies from our area, actually went to Bentonville(Headquarters) and had a meeting with the Powers that Be. It wasn't long after that meeting, the Fabric started to re-appear.
One concern I have is, most of what I've seen happening is Pre-cut. Matchy Matchy stuff that crafters would use. Only one of my local Wal-marts has brought back bolts. |

Date: 3/15/12 7:38 PM We've never really lost our fabric dept, but the quality has really gone down to icky stuff that I wouldn't buy! I have seen some movement at increasing the variety, but none of that $1.00 - $2.00 yd stuff that usually had an occasional marvelous piece if you really looked! I have my doubts that we are ever really going to be satisfied with their new "selections"! ------ Sewing in Wild, Wonderful West Virginia

Date: 3/15/12 8:11 PM I don't think our Wal-Mart ever stopped carrying fabric, but the selection did go way down. However, I find a lot of the stuff they carry at JoAnns (especially notions!) for less than the price of JoAnn's even with the 50% coupon. I do try to check to see if they have what I want becuase I don't like having to wait for the right coupon to shop at JoAnns. I do LOVE the two new JoAnn's super-stores in our area.
I try to buy all my muslin fabrics at Wal-mart. The problem is I'm still not brave enough to move from muslin to fashion fabric... but that's a whole different story. ------ Kathy O.

Date: 3/15/12 10:43 PM Oh do pick you out some reasonable fashion fabric and give it a whirl. I think you are up for it. My WM has a small selection. It never went completely out, just smaller. ------ "Let's make the most of this day"
