I love doing food service at church. I’m a monster worker at serving, neatening, and cleaning up. I made myself a special custom BLACK TUXEDO APRON which I adore (with a black bow tie) especially for volunteering.
My apron has all kinds of pockets and loops to hold everything thing I need: a can opener to pry canned heat open, a clicker lighter, tongs. One pocket is even sized to hold a ziplock bag in which I can carry around a wet, soapy sponge!
I got the design idea from the CLEAN TEAM APRON..
This has plenty of special pockets and even “holsters” for spray bottles, that really help you be “quick on the draw”
I found a free pattern for the apron HERE.
Then I restyled it into a tuxedo apron, so I look just like professional catering help. I love dressing the part because I’ve found that visitors can easily spot you if they need something or notice a problem. And this apron has gotten me a reputation: whenever someone needs something, they cast an eye around for me because I’m probably carrying it: a thick Sharpie and index cards for a quick sign, a towel (black to match the apron).
I’m volunteering tonight, and I’m humming as I lay everything out: black pants, black sneakers. I just boiled up some starch to get a crisp, crackle into my white shirt collar.
If you love food, cooking, parties, serving, church, volunteering, and sewing: put ‘em all together and make yisself an apron to top it all off!
