Anyone been out on Harry Hines lately?

I ventured out to the warehouse-type stores once last summer. The variety was overwhelming, as was the heat. I'm thinking about taking another field trip soon. Anyone from the area have a favorite store for garment fabric?

Metrotextiles on Perth Street is my favorite. Next door, C&C isn't bad. Up the street, Golden D'Or is my third favorite.

Great! Thanks a bunch! Now if I can just find a senior citizen's discount...

Golden D'or is where my Grandmother used to shop, and where I stopped in.

Harry Hines on a bus is rather scary, so I always kept it to the one place.

I'll have to check out Metrotextiles next time I'm there.

I've been to Golden D'or a couple times. It's huge and fun to browse, though I never find a ton of fabric that I want to have (their knits are all thick, shiny swimwear type knits and all the silks are chiffon--no charmeuse).

Last time I was there I went to a couple of the stores on Harry Hines near Golden D'Or (don't remember any names) but they were 99% home dec--not anything that interests me.

Oh, no kidding! I'll go early in the day and be out of there before 2pm and freeway gridlock!

Good to know. I'll have to check out Metro next time I'm down there... I've only been to Golden d'Or and always seem to walk out going, "Meh."

Except the time they had cuts of superfine wool suiting for $15 a yard. That was a good time.

They do have some nice things, but they don't seem to turn over their stock very much. I have purchased Chico's and Maggy London fabric at Metrotextiles.

Sounds good to me! I'm in the homestretch of the semester right now (engineering student), so I barely have time to bathe, but I think a little fabric therapy sounds right for after finals are over!
