Ok, so I'm making my first blazer style jacket. It's Simplicity 3506, but don't think that's important.

I want to line it for a more professional look (and cuz the fabric might be a bit scratchy otherwise). I bought the lining and have cut out the pieces same as the jacket (except the collar and front facing).

When/how should I attach the lining? As I put the pieces together? Wait until it's done and then attempt it? And how do I attach it?

I'm thinking attach to the front/back together and then the sleeves, but since I've never done this before (and never done a pattern with a lining before), I know there has to be a good technique.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!!

A series with more information than you probably want to know...

Kathleen Fasanella's Fashion Incubator blog

She's so generous with sharing her knowledge. I hope you aren't overwhelmed!

Also check the Threads website, I believe they have a tutorial on how to bag linings.

Also, if you can find the book Easy Guide to Sewing Linings at your library-- go for it. It's great with detailed pics of how to line anything. I was shocked to find this book on Amazon and Ebay for $60-$70!!! OMG.
I bought it for maybe $15 many years ago. I have no idea why it's so high now.
