I checked out the slide show and was amazed the prices being asked for these skirts. One even had the lining showing. There is no magic length. There was some swooning about knee length pencil skirts.
We could make bank here ladies. |

Date: 3/22/12 8:13 AM I'm always curious how many people actually buy these pieces at the full retail price (e.g. $2400 for the Ricci skirt at Barney's). Too bad the home sewers don't have the fashion names behind us to market our stuff at those prices, we have some very talented PR members here who can make a killing! ------

Thank you for posting the link, I needed a good laugh to accompany my coffee this morning. The good news with stores bring out new stuff every 3 weeks, it's hard to remember who had what. ------

 A skirt is one of the easiest things to sew. I love skirts! They make me feel more like a lady (that's not easy some days ). And for me most skirts take less than a yard of fabric. So good to hear they're also an important fashion item. ------

Yes, imagine popping out to buy a new laptop every few weeks. This is about as silly. Imagine how many fabulous new skirts most of us could sew up every few weeks if we set our minds to it. Nudge to self!!

Date: 3/22/12 10:51 AM I love how dramatic a skirt can be. I loved the skirts from the 30's and 40"s (I think). Anyway - some were pencil thin, most were mid calf (longer or shorter) some had inverted pleats in the back, or a pleating detail in the front just below knee length. Some were paired with extremely tailored suit jackets -others with swing jackets. Some had high sailor waists, some had no waist band and just sat on the hips (I think that may have been a later day interpretation.)
I also love my skorts in summer. That is a skirt isn't it? I love how a skort can be dressed up.
Most of all - I love how slimming and forgiving a skirt can be!
