Hi Everyone,

We just launched a slightly modified version of the boards. Here are a few changes you might have noticed.

1. The color theme is lighter hoping to make it easier on the eyes.
2. If you reply to someone's post you'll see a << next to member's name in the "In Reply To" box. When you click on the arrows you can see the previous post.
3. You can now give kudos to a post by clicking on the "like this post" link on any post. If the post has already been liked by someone else, you can click on the green thumbs icon to like it as well.
4. The topic tracker and other links up top have been moved to a new menu bar you'll see on top of the board right above the buttons.

We've tested it on the following browsers. So if you are using a version older than this, you may want to get the updates.

Chrome - 17.0.963.83 m
Firefox - 11.10
Internet Explorer - 9.0.8112.16421

Update 1:48 PM 3/24

So far we have the following issues which need to be looked at
1. Horizontal scrolling for screens 1024
2. Words and buttons overlap in safari and firefox
3. Font size inconsistencies on iPad and other browsers.

If you are having any of the above issues, stay tuned. I'll look at them soon. If there is something else, please report it here.

update

3/24/2012 2:30 PM

The font has been restored to it's original size. I had used the same pixel size earlier but the font-family was different (yet very similar). I switched it back to the old font.

The horizontal scrolling has been addressed also, although I havent tested it in all the browsers.

The like button has been moved to right and the reply to [membername] has been restored to it's original spot like always. I also removed the style elements from both of those components.

I still have to look at
1. Some fonts bigger than others in some browsers.
2. Buttons and words overlapping.

Update Monday, 3/26 1:06 PM

Buttons and words overlapping should no longer be an issue.

I am still trying to duplicate some fonts bigger than others in some browsers. If you have this issue, could you please send us the screenshot at support@patternreview.com and mention your operating system and browser version.

Update Tuesday, 3/27 11:04 AM
The horizontal scroll bar issue in Internet Explorer has been fixed.

Update Wednesday, 3/28 11:42 AM

Subject/Date positioning inconsistency has been fixed. Tested in IE, Firefox, Chrome.

Love the like button. So many times I've wanted to "like" a post but didn't really have anything to add to the discussion. This is perfect. Thanks!

Deepika,
I just * liked* this announcement, but now noticed that some of the page words are overlapping/layering other words (like in the topic description and moderators line and the date/like boxes) unless I scroll my page font very small. Does this mean I have to use PR's default page font and settings and not my own browser page settings in order to not have this happen? I like the way my browser pages are set up, they are easy for me to read, though I have had this same annoying problem in certain areas at other sites too. Never had it on PR though.
Thanks

hazelnut,

Which browser are you using? I am using chrome and I just enlarged my browser fonts and nothing is overlapping. Also try updating your browser to the current version. Diane here in the office had similar problems but when we updated her firefox to the latest version it was fine on her screen.

I'm using Firefox 11.0, which is the latest version for Fedora/Linux. I'd rather scroll down as necessary if I need to read something on the page rather than make my font permanently larger than it is. I'll deal with it as is, it's not a big issue. I haven't taken a liking to chrome yet, maybe one day I will - I keep doing the updates for chrome even though I don't use it. lol
Thanks for your reply and suggestions though.

ETA I like everything else about the new design Thanks for updating the website!

Send us a screenshot of your browser (support@patternreview.com) and I'll see if I can figure it out.

At first I thought my computer was having a "moment", or I was seeing things, but I really like the new format. The colors are easier on the eyes, and it is much easier to navigate. However, I now have to scroll across the width of my page and I didn't have to before. I am using Firefox 10.0.2, because the higher version, which you suggest, I can't download because it makes my virus software incompatible with Safe Search (I use AVG). Is there a way you can change the horizontal scrolling? I don't have Chrome, and I've been having problems with freezing with IE.

Edited to add: Maybe making the Topic Title column a little narrower would help?
