3 members like this. Date: 3/23/12 11:23 PM Hi all, I have started thinking about my winter wardrobe so thought we might have enough interest for a sewalong.
I do need to finish my togs for the swimwear contest, hem some curtains, start a muslin for a formal dress, but I still have winter clothes dancing through my head...

1 member likes this. Date: 3/23/12 11:55 PM Sue, I *need* to have winter wardrobe dancing in my head. I have a bad habit of sewing sewing sewing, then it turns cool and I haven't planned any winter sewing.
So I will tag along on this thread and hopefully plan and sew something for *this* winter. ------ Marg

3 members like this. Date: 3/24/12 0:15 AM OK...I've just cut out my first garment! Not actually for winter but certainly for Autumn. It's Kwik Sew 2759, view C without the contrast binding (or is it a band? ). This garment will also certainly be part of my convention wardrobe. Now just to work out what will go with it. ------ Alison in suburbia - Sydney Australia

4 members like this. Date: 3/24/12 1:08 AM I just cut out the tissue for my new winter coat yesterday. It's definitely turning cooler and I'm quite excited about getting back into my cold-weather clothing.
I'm making Butterick 5295 in purple Melton wool with a pewter satin lining. I've just barely got enough of the wool so I'll definitely need to do a muslin first. There won't be any second chances with this one!

Date: 3/24/12 1:23 AM Oooh...very nice Lareine. I would kill for a purple coat! I saw some short purple suede boots recently but I was good & bought the more serviceable red ones. ------ Alison in suburbia - Sydney Australia

Date: 3/24/12 3:31 AM I'm going to join in but at the moment will not commit to anything until I finish my dress for the vintage comp. I am finding that having committed myself to a particular item, I am not sure I like that sort of pressure, especially when things aren't going the way they should. I do have in mind though casual jackets, both wool and corduroy, and I have several patterns that I can't make up my mind on. |

Date: 3/24/12 3:54 AM Given that my dreams on Wed night were about cutting out a jacket and making a bag, I'll take it as a sign that its time to think about winter wear. So with trying to find a suitable fabric for M6442 on my mind, I'll throw my hat into the ring.
I am about to start on a few outfits for my friend's 6 month old and have cut a hoodie and cords today for him. For me I have a couple of long sleeve t-shirts and a loose knit jumper sitting looking at me, waiting, waiting... to start off with. ------ Tracy, Canberra

Date: 3/24/12 4:28 AM Yeah! So excited to see so many of you already. I have finsihed the togs - not happy... a dud Jalie pattern ... who would have thought... and hemmed one curtain out of 3!
I am thinking a long sleeved tee as a palate refresher next, not sure which pattern or fabric as I have so many 'dancing through my head' ATM and then I will muslin the ball dress before moving back to Winter sewing. I have plans for the Jalie cardigan - 2919 in a brown sweater knit. I have one in a balck jersey I just love. More Burda funnel neck tops and more KS 3740, the cowl neck that I (and many others) love. Then pants - so many pants - I love wearing pants in winter. I want to make some noice stretch woven ones and some comfy ponte ones. Thinking of the Style Arc Linda pants for the ponte ones.
Lots of plans, not enough sewing time... ------ Sue (Toowoomba Qld)

Date: 3/24/12 4:39 AM Lariene - who could not like a purple coat with a nice, swingy cut - looking forward to seeing it. I have planned to finish a jacket - black wool, not so intereting but certainly will help boost my winter wardrobe.
Alison - fabric for the cardigan? ... need to know.
Tracey - another great coat with a nice swingy line!
Renata - no deadlines on this sewing (until winter is over anyway) so join in when it suits.
Marg - maybe that jacket you have been working on will be a good start to the change in weather. What pattern did you decide on?
I am looking forward to staying motivated and on-track with this thread going. Thanks for playing... ------ Sue (Toowoomba Qld)
