hello ladies,
I have some ponte knit of medium thickness, which I'd like to use in McCalls 5974, do you think it would be suitable? I've never used knit fabrics before, so any advice would be great. Thanks, Kat

It should work. On the back of the pattern you will see a ruler. Check the stretch which I am pretty sure is fine. Since that knit is a bit heavier than some other knits you might have to trim seams as that pattern has gathers around the waist; a heavier fabric will give you bulky seams. That pattern has been reviewed alot. Did you read the reviews; I bet some other people have used a similar knit. I have the pattern in my stash but haven't made it yet. Here is the link to the reviews Mccalls 5974

I made this pattern out of a thick double knit and it worked out beautifully! Probably my favorite thing I've made. I did have to use the zipper, though.

Thanks for that, I didn't realise thats what the ruler was for, I did read the reviews but the ones I read most of them were cotton interlock or some variation of jersey. :)
