favorite caftan patterns

I cannot locate my favorite vintage Issey Miyake Vogue caftan pattern - this is impossible!!! These are nice, but ever so ho-hum compared to the missing Miyake Very Easy Vogue Koko Beall 7335, 2001 crisp bodice & seam detail Marci Tilton Vogue 7663, 2002 pieced duster/caftan Vogue V7854, 2004 made longer than pattern length Koos, Vogue V1244, new & unpurchased this is not a caftan pattern, but it is floating in the back of my mind to use the concept to make a caftan. ------ I have no idea what Apple thought I was saying so be a Peach and credit anything bizarre to auto correct.

Miyaki is wonderful. ------ Marilyn January 2009 to January 2010 81 yards out and 71yards in January 2010 to the present 106.7 yards out and 146.5 yards in. January 2011 to the present: 47 yards out and 69 yards in.

I have a pattern in my stash from when I was a teenager, but I can honestly not conceive of the occasion for which a caftan would be appropriate. Let alone multiples thereof! Date: 3/25/12 7:38 PM I wear them around the house all the time. sometimes as a night gown. sometimes I wear them to keep cool in the summer time. its not really hot in AK, but because we're so up north, it feels at least 10 degrees hotter than reality. I wear them out and about just like you might see on Moroccan women or somalian women. I personally love them.

McCall's says they will be coming out with the pattern in April. I kinda liked it myself. Looks quite comfortable. ... I wonder how much they will charge for the pattern ? What fabric do you use ? The one on Fashion Star was silk. Cotton work well you think? What a timely topic this is with summer coming so very early! To add; I ordered this pattern maybe it could work in a longer length ... I found it Calendria, on the link above, page two, first one in the upper left hand corner. Shown tunic length on the pattern, I have made a couple in the caftan length. Most recently out of deep blue and purple tie dye that surprisingly got me some 'Man, that's way cool.' comments from some young college type guys at the campground. When I first got the pattern, I made a pair of the pants which earned a lot of eye rolling from my mom; the pants were a little ahead of themselves. Also used the jacket pattern in a long version to make a very special present for a friend for her first cruise. Used a designer sample border print and used the border along the front edgings, neckline and cuffs. Almost forgot the version I have right now. Tunic length, as shown, with chinese acrobats on a nice charcoal gray background. That fabric was a border print also with a horizontal parade of the acrobats. I was able to manipulate the pattern to use the border all the way across the sleeves and bodice in one line and use the body of the fabric in the body of the garment. Given the theme, I also made a dickey type inset with a mandarin collar for changing it up. Think I'll make it again this summer with handkerchief linen cut on the bias. And suppose it is time to trace the pattern off to preserve it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Caftans are perfect for the beach, add a hat with a huge brim and there's no need to drag around a beach umbrella. Also perfect for the walk from the shower back to the camper in the campground after getting squeaky clean and leaving all the sand behind on the beach. Same thing for at home; shower after a hot gritty day of yard work, pop on a caftan and go sip something cool out on the porch. Sometimes covered is much cooler on a super hot day than uncovered. ------ I have no idea what Apple thought I was saying so be a Peach and credit anything bizarre to auto correct.

Sort of a cross between an elegant robe and hostess type garment. My absolutely favorite is Vintage Caftan, a pattern I've had since probably the 70's and I've made it several times.
