I just bought it again: Kwik Sew 3115
Oops!
ETA: I did this by accident. I was going through my patterns last night and noticed. -- Edited on 3/27/12 11:19 AM -- |

Date: 3/27/12 11:21 AM I've done this before. Twice actually. I have a couple of duplicate patterns.
This just reminded me of the KS pattern sale.. |

Date: 3/27/12 11:43 AM I did this too! I got mad at myself because the pattern was pricey--felt like I threw money in the garbage! ------ Thank you Lord for my Mother who taught me the joy of sewing. |

Date: 3/27/12 12:39 PM I have done this many times until I wrote down all my pattern numbers under the pattern company in numerical order in a small notebook that I always keep in my purse. I placed as many columns as I could fit on a page under each pattern company name. I also have an Excel document with pages for each pattern company and record each pattern as I purchase it (for the Pattern Stash contest). It has saved me from purchasing at least half a dozen patterns so far this year.
There are online sites to record patterns such as PatternFile.com that some PR members use. Also I understand apps are available for those with smart phones. Since I don't have a smart phone, I cannot recommend them. I read an article in a sewing magazine that said some of them are free. -- Edited on 3/27/12 12:40 PM -- ------ Total fabric on hand: 1/1/13 1683.731 yds

Date: 3/27/12 12:57 PM Yes, I have done that too. The pattern must be calling to you. You might get some of your money back by selling it here. |

Date: 3/27/12 1:24 PM I can do you one better. I purchased the same pattern twice in less than 30 minutes. I was rushing on my lunch hour. I purchased the pattern at Hancock's then left for Jo Ann Fabrics. I purchased the pattern again because I thought it was not available at Hancock's. After I got back to my car, I opened both bags and discovered my error. You can imagine how upset I was. I was rushing and trying to get back to the office in a timely manner. |

Date: 3/27/12 1:31 PM I started hitting the pattern sales in earnest last fall and had to start tracking the new ones to avoid unintentionally purchasing duplicates. I spent a little bit of time entering them into the PR My Stuff Pattern Catalog.
When the patterns are .99 or 1.99, I buy multiples of things that I know I will be repeating over the next few years. Regardless of how styles change, if the fit works, I can easily change the details.

Date: 3/27/12 1:37 PM I write down my patterns in a small book divided by pattern company--it is just too easy to make a duplicate purchase. (I also write down the size so that if needed I can pick up a different size) ------ My blog: raggiegirls.blogspot.com |

Date: 3/27/12 2:34 PM I've only been duplicating pattern purchases since joining PR. I see a review for a pattern and if I like it, I write down the pattern number. Sometimes I just don't remember that I've already purchased it. Now, when a pattern envelope looks familiar when I take it out of the drawer, I won't buy it until I make sure I don't already have it. ------ Judy |
