I bought a great batik fabric a few Xmas's ago with little Xmas trees imprinted all over.

I'm considering fussy-cutting out the trees and enveloping them in a "frame", such as diamond in a square, the middle of a log cabin, etc.

Anyone have suggestions or know of an article with more suggestions? Can't quite make up my mind. This fabric seems to deserve something different, special.

If I were more tech-savvy, I'd upload a photo. It was at Hancocks xmas 2010, I believe, if anyone has it, also, and knows what I am talking about.

Thanks for any help.

What color is the background? I just saw one that has a red background wiht small trees on it. Then I saw one with an off white background and trees, then a blue background and trees and so on.

It's varying shades of red and green. The little trees vary from green to red, also, as the batik colors all over..you know how they are! The red is pretty much the same all over, though the green varies from a very light lemon green to dark green.

I bought another batik that goes well- it is the very light green. Also another fabric I planned to use is dark green/darker green with a pattern, though not a batik...but I think it will go anyway.

The trees were imprinted in rows, if that helps any.

I love the idea of framing it in a log cabin block.

Yes, log cabin seems perfect for a green and red Xmas quilt...probably because it seems so cozy. I thought the middle of a star could be Xmasy also.

So far I've come up with cathedral window, hearts, that block that looks like a window, crazy quilt piecing, baby's blocks, center of grandmother's flower garden....

The batik is different enough that I think it needs something a little off-traditional, but not sure yet. Thanks for the feedback, ladies!
