Date: 3/30/12 6:18 AM can anyone point me in the direction of a good online tute on how to do a fba on a dress - it has like a sweetheart neckline and straps and i just can't get my heart around how to do it (as there is no full armhole) and it has darts coming of the front waistband.
TIA

The dress has a fitted top similar to the Colette Parfait but instead of gathers has darts off a waistband. Because it doesn't have shoulder seams or full armholes I'm a bit lost |

Date: 3/31/12 10:55 AM I'm really not sure what your specific question is, which may be why no one has chimed in.
To do any FBA: find the bust point. Mark your lines for reference toward the armhole, side seam, and shoulder (if needed for a large FBA). Then do the FBA as you normally would on a darted front. The fact that you don't have sleeves or full armholes doesn't matter. When you do an FBA, you are using those landmarks/seam lines as pivot points for where the pattern needs to be opened to allow for more room in the bust.
If you post a photo of the pattern or a link to the pattern so we have a better idea what is troubling you, perhaps you will be able to get more detailed help.
Debbie Cook had some nice tutorials. I don't know the links anymore. Her blog is StitchesandSeams on blogspot. I think she moved them to her blog page.
Good luck! ------ Fictionfan |
