Will pulling through the shoulder work?

I'm considering making a Peony as one of my next projects. As I was thinking through how I might line it, I thought that maybe the pull-through-the-shoulder method of lining wouldn't work, as the shoulders are pretty narrow on the Peony dress. Does anyone know...

a) whether this method will work with such narrow shoulders, and

b) what other method might be used to fully line the dress with no seams showing?

Thanks, folks!

(In case it's not clear what I mean by pull-through-the-shoulder, this is the method I'm referring to.)

The Peony has sleeves. Are you planning to make it sleeveless?

Sewliz -- yes, I was thinking about making a sleeveless version.

Although, that brings to mind a second question... how could you get the same effect (no seams showing inside) in a dress with sleeves? Could you use the same pull-through-the-shoulder technique if you use a flat sleeve installation instead of a set-in sleeve?

I have the same question. I'm making it with sleeves.

If you have sleeves in a garment you don't need to face the armholes. The pull through the shoulders technique is handy because it faces both neck and armholes at once. If you set sleeves in, you can still face back the neck with the lining or with a facing attached to a lining. This lining can be made up with sleeves in, for a fully lined garment, or if you don't want to line the sleeves you can face the neckline back with the lining and either slip stitch the lining to the sleeve/armhole turnings, or working from the inside between the layers, stitch most of it to the sleeve/armhole turnings and slip stitch any section you can't get your machine foot into. If you're only facing the neckline, there is no need to leave the side seams unstitched like you do with the pull through method.
