Date: 4/9/12 3:02 PM Here is the quilt as I am taking it in to the shop for them to do the quilting. What a lot of work. Now the stress is gone.
I think I will choose a green thread. I already know I want a leaf pattern of some type.

Date: 4/9/12 5:10 PM I dropped it off today. The thread color is a medium green. The pattern is clamatis and leaves. It should be lovely. The green thread tones down the pink just a touch, but not much. We tried dark green, light green, varigaged med green (our choice) and even a beige. That looked dead on the squares.
The pattern I expected to choose was just simple leaves. I nearly went with Hummingbirds or butterflies. Maybe the next one.
Not sure what I will try next. I might take the beginner classes for something simple and to get things firmly cemented in my mind. Can I do most of the squares I did for this quilt again? I think so. This is why I did the weekly write up, so I could print it out and have a copy of how to do it when I need it. Hubby asked me if I took notes. Oh yes. He is concerned I will not remember how to do some of them in a couple of months. If I had not written them down each week, I would have no clue right now how i did it.
I now have a few days for fun. Now, what to do? Plan my next quilt, of course. I feel so much more relaxed. Michele, at the store asked me if I felt better now that it is nearly done. Oh yes, I sure do. Those borders are hard. Binding it does not worry me. I can learn and finish it any time I want. No time pressures now.
On Sat I bought some TruGrips at a quilt show. Those things hold the rulers tight. They no longer move on me, so when we do the bindings on Sat, it should be much easier to not have rulers moving around on the fabric.

Date: 4/9/12 7:12 PM To begin with, I think the colors are just fabulous. That tropical print is so lively, and so pleasing, and all of the other fabrics truly complement it. The overall impression of the quilt is beautiful, and you have every right to be proud of yourself. I think a green thread in a leaf pattern will be absolutely lovely. ------ Barb |
