Does anyone know of fabric stores in Pittsburgh, PA that sell home dec fabric? A friend wants to make drapes and I am not very familiar with the fabric stores there. Thanks.

HI Mary,

I haven't been there in years but the biggest home dec store in Pgh used to be Gene Sanes in the Strip District. Gene Sanes Upholstery

A review on google says they don't answer email, though. Perhaps a phone call would be more productive.

Don't miss the rest of the Strip District shopping if you go! Fun place--its the one thing I really miss about living in "the 'burgh."

It is almost the ONLY one that sells home dec besides JoAnn.
Calico Corners closed its doors about a year ago, as did Textile Studio.

You may wish to try http://www.decoratorsupplyinc.com/
and see if you have any luck with that.

Always looking for PR members to hook up with for gabbing and fitting... Private Message me if you're interested.

Don't confuse accessibility with ease; just because anybody can pick up a needle and thread doesn't mean sewing quality garments is easy.

I think that now people rely on Online resources and you can also go for that.

There's a store in PA, although not Pittsburg, called Barn Fabric Center and they specialize in home dec with incredible prices. I've mail ordered from them before. barnfabriccenter.com

My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since.
