Date: 4/15/12 9:39 PM I got a fat quarter bundle of all the max and whiskers fabric, and separated the black and white predominant prints from the other colors.
I WAS going to make the between block sashing and border black and white, but I didn't like it. The yellow and orange were just too good with the blocks to not use them! I liked the tiny bit of blue in between, worked out well because I had 2 yards of the blue to use for the border.
I ended up with 36 blocks, and the only way to make it work well was to make a square. For some reason I balked and fussed and tried so hard to make it NOT square, but in the end decided it was silly to hate a square quilt so much.
It is not very big, 50x50 without the binding, but that was all I had for the black and white. It will make a nice snuggle on the couch quilt!

after the border:

Had to tell Audrey she can't have it after all. It actually came out pretty good! It's too big to fit her bed anyways, and she really likes fleecy blankets. So I bought her some fleece to make her a bed-blanket.
She was helping me check it out for wonkiness:

Date: 4/18/12 8:58 AM Thanks everyone!
I still haven't made the back yet, I had to make some fleece blankets bound in satin, (I found the SOFTEST fleece in the world, I just HAD to have it, so now Audrey has her fleece blankie she can fluff in her bed and my grandson has a nice soft blanket for summer)
The quilt is just a bit too big for my 44" fabric to back it inone piece, so I'll have to piece a back. And I don't know what color to use for binding.
Since it's so small, I was going to add another border, but I like it the way it is. Sometimes less is best! I have a VERY DIFFICULT time with that concept. ------ Cathryn |

Date: 4/18/12 11:13 AM I think I might find a soft brown if you have anything that will go with the quilt colors. I would not go with the orange, or all you will see is the border and binding. Blue and orange are opposite each other on the color wheel. They would take over the color of the quilt.
You could always ask your 4 footed friend...
