I was attaching the crotch lining for a pair of KS panties. Clearest directions ever, right? Fool proof. Except I pinned, then sewed, the seam end to the side seam. Hmm. That didn't look right. Ripped it out. Swore a bit. Zig zags are a PITA to remove. Decided I would hand baste the three layers together (front, back, crotch lining). Sat serenely watching rerun of Downton Abbey and sewing away the old fashioned way. Paused the video, stood up to go to the SM and realized I'd sewn it to to front of my skirt. A clear sign it was time to quit. But then I figured I already have to rip out the stitches attaching a disassembled pair of panties from my skirt, so I really should just go ahead and finish them. Confession: I did actually very briefly consider just leaving them attached and calling it an embellishment. But no. After successfully attached the crotch lining, heady with success, I forged on. Attaching elastic for leg # 1 went swimmingly, I thought. No wonky bubbles or bunching. Super! Except when I pinned the elastic to the leg opening, I'd pinned BOTH legs. Still, the elastic looked darned good. It was at that point I headed for the ice cream and another episode of Downton Abbey, with all my heart wishing that I had a lady's maid.
That's the entire confession. That, and I am considering going commando. |

Date: 4/19/12 1:51 PM Oh you crack me up!!! How you tell the story is so funny!!! Picturing in my mind's eye the underwear sewed to your skirt--hysterical!
Don't feel bad though as we've all had our share of mistakes. Here is a thread about them. Some are so funny like yours--they will make you feel lots better!!! ------ Thank you Lord for my Mother who taught me the joy of sewing. |

Subject: Heres Your Sign! Date: 4/19/12 4:17 PM LOL. Love the story but I would have done it differently. After I sew something to my pants I just try to cut the thread. I usually succeed in cutting a hole in my pants. How do I get my sign. Or maybe I need two. |

Date: 4/19/12 6:08 PM XD My general rule for sewing when I am tired is to go until I make a big mistake. I take it apart and put it all away. I would have stopped at square one! XD Ice cream sooner, too... :P ------ Call me Han.
I'll try anything once :) |
