Am I the only one who just found out that Walmart sells fabric online? See here

This is interesting. I wonder when they started the on-line fabric option.

No, you're not the only one - you found out before I did. Maybe I should explore their online site more often.

Is there an easier way to search the results, rather than scrolling through 5000 hits?

97 cent shipping's not bad, either!

I didn't know that, and I get their online sales flyers, too! I know they're putting fabric back in some of their stores, but didn't have a clue they were offering it online as well!

Thanks for the heads up, although I could probably start my own fabric store!!! LOL~

Am I the only one who has to FEEL the fabric before they buy??

I need to know if it's soft, thin, has a little weight to it, how will it feel against my skin, what possibilities does it hold?? I just can't bring myself to buy online... maybe some muslin or interfacing, but nothing else so far.

But I have plenty of fabric stores around to keep me happy, so I can't complain!

I was in my local store today and the fabric section had grown, looks like it was a few years back, now I'm going to check online

My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since.

That is interesting, thanks for the tip!!

One of the WalMarts in my town, we have two, recently re-opened the fabric/craft department! I am so happy! =0) Even though I have a large JoAnns and a few scattered quilting type shops I still love the WalMart setup. I think it reminds me a bit of the times when I would shop for fabric with my Mom in the department stores of days gone by. My first job was in the fabric department of a JC Penneys! I also bought my first machine at Penneys in 1972.

No Heather, you are not alone. I'm a feeler too. When my Mama was still living, I would call her and say "let's go touch material". We would always come out with a bit of what we touched

Don't get too excited. Look closer at the site.

Sort craft then fabric. That takes is down to a manageable 500.
Then really look. Most of what is available is already cut, just as in the store. 2 yard pre-packs. And a good number of them are sold out online.
Yes, you can get fleece and felt BTY, but not so much the other stuff.
Maybe it still helps, but not much more than any other online supplier.

------
Don't confuse accessibility with ease; just because anybody can pick up a needle and thread doesn't mean sewing quality garments is easy.
