Can I use Maxi-Lock serger thread for all purpose sewing? I am unclear as to what makes it "serger" thread.

Usually serger thread is finer, linty and less strong than regular thread, so will gum up your machine and wreck havoc on the tension discs. Sue

You can,,,but I sure wouldn't recommend it! Take a strand of Maxi-Lock serger thread between your hands and try to break it by jerking your hands apart. Pretty darn easy, huh.

How secure would you feel wearing something sewn together with that?!

Serging uses a lot more thread per stitch than sewing does, so serging thread is much finer, to avoid bulk. For sewing, it's just not strong enough. For decorative sewing, serger thread isn't a problem.
