Tonight I experimented with using the coverstitch for my 4852. Altho I've had the machine for a couple of years, never had before used this feature. It makes a nice topstitch, that is for sure. But....does it get any quicker for setting up this feature? It must have taken me 30 min + to change over the settings. Tell me it WILL become second nature!!

It will become second nature if you use it enough. I have a 4872 and unless I use it a lot I have to look at the directions. As you do it more you glance at the setup and immediately recall what to do. I would rather double check the directions and not mess anything up.

Yes, it gets easier. When changing your machine over from serging to cover stitch, refer to book and always do all steps in the same order. Change needles, adjust cutting width, move stitch finger, change regular serger piece for table, thread chain looper & disengage top looper, close door, thread needles, set tension and do a sew test. Adjust stitch lenght & differential feed based on fabric. Buy a second serger for regular seams

I have the same serger and yes, it will get easier but... you will get tired of switching back and forth. So then you get a Babylock Coverstitch machine to set next to it. That's what I did!

Thanks for a great laugh! It's a good thing I just put the coffee maker on.
