I am working on the Couture Dress class on Craftsy. At this point, I have made muslins of both skirt styles of V8648.

I could use some help deciding which to make in my Maggy London fabric.

Fabric
Straight Skirt
Full Skirt

Will I look crazy wearing this?

I'm leaning towards the sheath style but I don't know if your dress form is like mine, things look different on me than on the form. I know it's a pain but it would be better if you were in them.

Love the fabric, is it cotton?

Yes, my dress form is not quite like me, but close. I will do photos of the dress on me, I agree that would be better.

The fabric is from Emma One Sock - and is a Maggy London cotton. It definitely needs a lining most likely white.

My first thought was to lean towards the straight skirt.. until I saw the fabric. In that fabric I think the full would look better.
Its not what we think. .its what YOU think.. But since you asked.. I think the dress is going to be fine in either fabric.. but to me the full skirt calls more for a floral print than the straight skirt.. just IMHO ..

I agree - it's not what we think it's what you think!!! But you did ask
So I tend to think that big bold prints need a little space to show themselves off. So I tend to think a fuller skirt. Then you get the print moving and it isn't so much about the placement of the particular flower.
Just my 0.02 worth.

Wow - they look a lot better on you than on the stand! I think the straight skirt is more flattering to you but I sort of agree that the fabric might be better on a full skirt. Really, how helpful am I?? If I have to say something, I'd go with the straight.

I'm going to chime in and say I like the full skirt. Not just because you can show off the fabric more, but I think it would be easier to move around in i.e. more comfortable.

But I am a bit biased, I'm more of a full skirt person in general anyway. May I congratulate you on the very nice fit of both mock ups.

Straight. Tres chic.

The bolder the print the cleaner the line. Unless you're a curtain.
