I have tried garlic and epsom salts and nothing has deterred them. Hopefully nothing too lethal --just a deterrant. ------ alfalfa

I don't know if this helps or not. ------ Marilyn January 2009 to January 2010 81 yards out and 71yards in January 2010 to the present 106.7 yards out and 146.5 yards in. January 2011 to the present: 47 yards out and 69 yards in.

He just came over and helped the snakes cut down the vole and mole and field mice populations. The snakes are less likely to leave presents on the front porch, and we don't have to do much besides try not to run them over with the lawn mower. ------ Fictionfan

I no longer have a cat and it is too busy around my front garden for owls to venture near. Would a garter snake work? I saw one in my neighbour's garden .Maybe i will borrow it. ------ alfalfa

You don't exactly need a cat, but you need its droppings. You find all the entrances to their runs and you jam the stuff down there. In my instance, they moved elsewhere! Also, in the fall, make sure to clean up really good in your garden. Clip things back as they like the cover. Mulches attract voles too. Good luck getting them to re-locate. I see you are in Ontario....not to my house! Helen
